Overview

The Michell PSD2 and PSD4 Pressure Swing Dryers provide a source of very dry compressed air for use as a zero gas in humidity calibration systems, or for general laboratory applications. They are completely self-contained, maintenance-free aside from an occasional desiccant change, and designed for continuous, unattended operation.

Working Principle

Two columns filled with 4Å molecular sieve desiccant are used alternately on a two-minute switching cycle. A small proportion of the already-dried air is used to regenerate the offline column at each cycle (heatless regeneration), which typically extends desiccant life beyond five years while using significantly less energy than a heated-type dryer.
