Overview
The FGD5/6-IR is an explosion-protected, ATEX/IECEx approved fixed infrared gas detector designed for direct replacement of pellistors in oil & gas applications. Constructed from 316 stainless steel and featuring remote gas test capability, it offers a 5-year MTBF, minimal maintenance, a selectable rising or falling output signal and an optional weather guard.
Working Principle
An NDIR infrared sensor measures hydrocarbon gas (methane) and produces a mV signal proportional to gas level (15–30 mV / % CH4), so the head can be wired to industry-standard pellistor control panels. It is self-heating to protect against obscuration and uses no mirrors, lenses or separate heaters.
